Band was one of the apps shown off during Steve Jobs’ keynote at the WWDC show this year, before the App Store launched. So it’s no surprise to see it appearing on launch day.

It lets you play music using drums, bass and blues guitar, and is great fun. You can play around with the individual instruments, then hit the Rec button to record one of them - then overdub with others as many times as you want.

You’ll need rhythm to get the most out of it, and I got a bit frustrated early on, when my beats were a bit out of time. But if you have some more musical knowledge, it’s excellent. Band costs £5.99, and you can get it by clicking here.
