The drums, the drums, the drums, the drums… The Ting Tings certainly like their drums, as do I. While they’re focusing on bothering the charts, I’ll have to be content with messing about on Drum Kit, a new iPhone app that turns you into a touchscreen John Bonham. Kind of.

What you get is a ten-piece on-screen drumkit - four toms, a snare, a bass, hi-hat, crash, ride and splash if you must know - and what you have to do is, well, hit it. The drum sounds are all professionally-recorded 16-bit stereo sounds, too. Bad news if you’d prefer shitty-quality punk drums recorded in a basement.

Anyway, it’s great fun, if not strictly useful for actual music recording. Who knows though, maybe the Ting Tings could use it on their next album. At £1.19, it won’t cut into their royalties too much.
