Molecules app for iPhoneI’m quite fascinated by molecules and DNA these days, although more in the form of colourful pretty pictures than the ins and outs of how they actually work. But then I’m an artistic type innit. Anyway, Molecules is a new iPhone app that’ll appeal to the likes of me, but also proper scientists. Possibly.

It lets you see and interact with 3D renderings of molecules, basically, using touchscreen controls to rotate and zoom them. You can download new molecules from the open-source RCSB Protein Data Bank, and store them on your iPod for looking at whenever you like.

Perfect for anyone who likes goggling at amino acids, nucleotides and other molecular structures, in other words. The app is free, too, so could be a handy tool for cash-strapped students.
