Notebooks are dead, people. And it was the iPhone wot killed ‘em. Well, it might do. Several apps are aiming to replace trusty pen’n'paper with on-screen doodling, and Sketches is one of the newest to launch on the App Store.

Developed by LateNiteSoft, it costs £3.49, and promises to let you create diagrams, notes and sketches by simply swiping your fingers over the touchscreen. That includes multi-touch shape-placing, the ability to send your sketches to other people, and a nifty pinboard-style interface to let you navigate around them.

It’s currently on version 1.1, with the developers having tweaked several bugs to get the app running better. If you’re a creative type, it’s well worth a look.
